“What is this?!”

Man, what is wrong with you?! This is your heart!”

Somewhere in the North-East of the USA, on the Atlantic shore there is a little vacation village: “Ocean Point”. During the winter, or in the beginning of springtime, or in the ending of the fall “Ocean Point” is a lone place. Yet, even during these seasons “Ocean Point” is fulfilled by a strange, out of this world beauty.

But, in the full spring, in the summertime and in September, “Ocean Point” is the sublime synthesis of the whole world fairy-tales.

If you exclaim: “Oh, my God, it’s a dream! . . . ” you say nothing by comparison with what you see, what you feel. . . And, everything, the vast green-blue ocean and its foamy waves, the huge yellow rocks, the faraway yachts and the lighthouse, the dwarf islands, the old pines and the gold-blood flowers, the white houses under a never-ending blue sky . . . oh, Lord, everything and all together. . . breathless you. . .

“Ocean Point” has just one narrow street winding along the ocean shore for no more than two miles. Actually, this path goes to infinite. . . as infinite, and blessed is the beauty of the place.

Yes—what can we do? this is life—yes, “Ocean Point” is indeed a heavenly oasis where everything is possible only if you have a yearly income at least a quarter of million dollars.

Therefore, on this infinite and blessed path of “Ocean Point”—step or run slowly, or just walk their pure breed dogs, many kinds of chimpanzees, orangutans and gorillas, every one of them soured, so disgusted, having a long-blue face, deep wrinkles, being early aged by the daily life misery.

Thus, I don’t know why, but it seems it was meant to be this way, because one Saturday, this summer, after the Mass, I started to go to “Ocean Point”. Certainly, just as a simple and very modest tourist.

And, when I saw how they look to me, all those rich monkeys so disgusted by the daily life misery, well, inspired by Heaven, I decided to play on the CD-player of my car, some special music. . .

And, every time—since that Saturday—I run slow, slowly my car on the narrow street of “Ocean Point”, I open at large all the its windows, I get the maximum volume of my speakers and I release out: “Corazon Espinado”, that brilliant lump-of-life born from sadness and joy, from pain and happiness, the Latino song of Carlos Santana.

The whole “Ocean Point” rebound into “Corazon Espinado”.

The ocean exults, the rocks, the pines rejoice, as well. . . And, the chimpanzees, the orangutans and the gorillas soured, so disgusted by the misery of life, each and all of them become men and women, human kind. And, they start to smile. . . so beautiful. So good smiles. More, some of them show me their two thumbs as, “great! thanks, man!”

Oh, yes, “Corazon Espinado”:

“Mi corazón aplastado
Dolido y abandonado [Alt: Herido y abandonado]
A ver, a ver tú sabes dime mi amor
Cuánto amor?
Y qué dolor nos quedó?
Ah ah ah corazón espinado
Ah ah ah cómo me duele el amor”

And, every time when it happens like this, I feel myself crushed by myself.

Terrible crushed. So dreadfully that I have no tears. Alas! Lord…

And finally I thank to all of them by smiling back as a good Samaritan.

Just because my loneliness is calling now, but I hope not forever: “Corazon Espinado”.

“Ce-i asta?!

Dar, in fapt e infinita… Precum infinita e frumusetea binecuvintata a locului…

Chiar imi fac semn cu mina a multumire adinca. Oh, da, “Corazon Espinado”:

“Mi corazón aplastado
Dolido y abandonado [Alt: Herido y abandonado]
A ver, a ver tú sabes dime mi amor

valurile pling…”

(In Theophil Magus living in Boston – Anna-Maria 101 breathings, „Leonard Oprea‘s dominant perspective is one of a cold objectivity, too little disposed to easy emotions, other than those hidden, profound feelings and questions. Themes are the life purpose, the ultimate springs of human actions… Intelligence, laconic sarcasm, humor, right targeting. How could we not be indebted to the author? He put his talent of storytelling to serve an exhortation which is nothing else than the health response in the presence of the morbid, the simplicity in the face of artificial, the man-loving of light against darkness and evil./Nicolae Steinhardt – European philosopher, essayist and author); “A novelist and essayist of Leonard Oprea’s literary value does not need any introduction. From no one.” /Valeriu Gherghel – European philosopher, essayist, literary critic and author)
