leonard oprea: AGAIN, DO YOU LOVE THE MUSIC?

BLUES, JAZZ – THE MUSIC…

BLUES, JAZZ – MUZICA…

(… to Valeriu – the Teacher of “The Commandment of rabbi Akiba”)

(… lui Valeriu – Invatatorul “Poruncii lui rabbi Akiba”)

FOR ME, THE BLUES

For me,  the Blues is not music… but even much more…

The Blues is the art of that secret, magic, rhythmic and musical calling which tames my inside beast by caressing it with deep sadness and profound joys. Thus, metamorphosing my inside beast in a gentle being… a human one.

“… heavy and tarnish rain and

silence… splash, splash, splash – the drops…

all tears on the leafs…”

***

***

THE JAZZ

The Jazz is the sublimation of human being through that peerless and unrepeatable alchemic process of the solo improvisation… either you listen the human voice, either you listen the saxophone, or the trumpet, or the bass, or the percussion, or the piano…

That one, who listening the Jazz will feel and, will think that, for example, Keith Jarrett, Charlie Parker and Miles Davis are like Bach, Mozart and Beethoven – oh, yes, that one will make no mistake – in no way and… never.

… the swan is floating/

at dawn – a dream under azure /

tenor sax – solo…”

***

JAZZ

solo – sax tenor…“

A THOUGHT

There are musicians whose creation shivers my soul by the too high feeling that their music is a part of that Christly diaphanous transformation of the Cosmos, that Teilhard de Chardin wrote about.

I thank them always thanking God for their priceless talent.

And anytime I hear their music, totally charmed, I pray to Lord Jesus Christ for

Albinoni, Bach, Mozart, Hayden, Beethoven, Rossini, Verdi, Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, George Enescu, Gershwin… and others. Or, for those from the jazz world: Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Coleman Hawkins, Art Tatum, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Jan Garbarek, Herbie Hancock, Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan,  Ron Carter, Johnny Raducanu, Harry Tavitian, Eberhard Weber, John McLaughlin, Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette, Airto Moreira, Billie Holiday Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Nina Simone, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, All Jarreau, Bobby McFerrin… and others. Or, from the blues and rock world: Muddy Waters, Sony Boy Williamson, Sonny Terry and Brownie Magee, Howlin Wolf, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Bessie Smith, Etta James, Janis Joplin, Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, Elvis Presley, Beatles, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Chicago, Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Blood Sweat and Tears, Queen and Carlos Santana… and others. Or, from the gospel and soul music world: Mahalia Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield… and others.

Or, for the incredible, fantastic Cuban musicians discovered by Ry Cooder and united under the magic formula of “Buena Vista Social Club”.

But there are, still, others, a lot of others – I didn’t forget, but just now I do not want to make any exhaustive lists.

All those people and their “genesis” through music are a godly gift and divine present for us, and all the thanking words are useless. Really useless.

You shiver from the head to the toes – and you thank God.

And you feel, you hear deep inside you the supreme music, the source of everything:

Our Father who is in heaven…”

And then “…Amen.”

That is all.

“… rainbow after this/

rain of October…and Bach/

fulfils the nature …”

Sau, pentru cei din lumea jazz-ului: Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Coleman Hawkins, Art Tatum, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Jan Garbarek, Herbie Hancock, Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan,  Ron Carter, Johnny Raducanu, Harry Tavitian, Eberhard Weber, John McLaughlin, Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette, Airto Moreira, Billie Holiday Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Nina Simone, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, All Jarreau, Bobby McFerrin… si altii. Sau, pentru cei din lumea blues-ului si rock-ului: Muddy Waters, Sony Boy Williamson, Sonny Terry and Brownie Magee, Howlin Wolf, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Bessie Smith, Etta James, Janis Joplin, Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, Elvis Presley, Beatles, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Chicago, Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Blood Sweat and Tears, Queen and Carlos Santana… si altii.

Tatal Nostru, care esti in Ceruri…

Si dupa aceea,  “…Amin.”

Atit.

“ … curcubeu dupa/

ploaie-n octombrie… si/

Bach umple firea…”
